Review: Rolf's Quest (Medieval Encounter Book 1) by Aubrey Wynne

This is what the story is about: The story takes place between 1139 A.D. and 1154 A.D. As the tale begins we learn that Merlin has been cursed because of a spell that he cast on a woman he loved. The spell was to make the woman love him. The curse she cast upon Merlin can only be broken by the first born son of Merlin's descendants.

In the autumn of 1139 A.D., in the Caledonian Forest of Scotland,  Rolf sees his father talking to a tree. The tree turned out to be a curse that bound Merlin, a legendary sorcerer. Rolf, a first born son of Merlin's  descendants, and the father asks Merlin to take Rolf and train him in hopes the curse on Merlin can finally be broken. Rolf's task is to find true love without the use of spells or trickery.

Rolf already has the woman of his dreams in mind, Melissa. The  only problem: Melissa is already betrothed to Charles Roker, a Duke in the Court of King Henry II. The engagement was arranged by Melissa's family. Alas, the arrangement was made not for love but to strengthen alliances between families. But Melissa begins having dreams about a young man with dark hair. While traveling to London to meet Charles Roker, Melissa meets Rolf in the forest along the way. When the two meet they instantly fall in love.

At the coronation of King Henry, King Henry asks Melissa if she really wants to marry Charles Roker. She tells King Henry that she does not love Charles and does not want to marry him. Now can Melissa and Rolf find love with each other or will the loyalty to her family's wishes override her love for Rolf.

Shape shifting and wizardry, love vs. loyalty, bring this story alive amongst the famed history of King Henry II.

I really enjoyed this story. I thought it was very interesting because it was set in a historical romance in the 1100 A.D. time period. A time when Kings and Queens and Dukes and Princesses ruled the nations. It was a time when families betrothed their sons and daughters to gain power and favor. This author handles this with skill and detail to the historical record.

The characters in this novel were very well developed, memorable and strong. Rolf and Melissa represent young lovers in every generation.

Love is magical in and of itself but with the powers of a sorcerer thrown in it gives the story unexpected twists and turns.

This story captivates you from the very beginning and holds you spellbound. I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves a great love story.

Happy Reading Everyone!

New Friendship App

Hey Everyone,

How is everybody doing? I wanted to share with you a new friendship app. It is called Patook. It is a strictly making friendships app. They don't allow flirting at all. You create a profile then you pick who you want to be friends with. For example if you only want to see profiles of women that's fine. Or if you want to see profiles of men as well. I signed up you should too. It is totally safe.

They won't let you post URL links in  a message to someone until you get to know them better. Also you can get your profile verified. You can have discussions with other people. You can post topics. You can send messages to people. You can see who visited your profile. Please let  me know if you join in the comments below this post.  Also when you sign up they don't let you use your last name  as a username only first names. The best part is it's free you can upgrade to the premium later. It came out in 2016 so it is still new. If you have problems with the app or questions the people in charge are very good about responding to you. I believe you will enjoy this app.

Review: Jake & the Dragons of Asheville by Brian Kacica

Here is a summary of what the book is about: The storyline takes place in a very small town in North Carolina. When Jake Winston is thirteen years old he discovers that he has a unique genetic trait... a power coursing through his blood. A power so strong that a special government  agency, ONX, wants. What the government    wants  the government  decides to get: by any means necessary.

ONX agents begin to plot and then act to obtain Jake's secret. Jake's father, who was a local hero, suddenly dies. After the death of his father, Jake's grandfather returns to the area to look after Jake and sends him on a journey. The journey leads Jake to a gated forest near the town. Upon entering the forest Jake comes face to face with a family of dragons. From that point the story explodes: ONX agents begin killing every dragon they come upon in order to discover the power of the blood. What will Jake do? Or, can he do anything?

This is the first fantasy book that I have read and what a treat. There is a lot of action and adventure in the story.

For those of you who enjoy fantasy books you should pick up a copy. This book is great for pre-teens and up. Just the cover should get their interest... it's kind of cool.

There is a surprise in the book but I am not going to tell you where it is. You will have to find out for yourselves.

Happy Reading Everyone!

Review: Ralphy the Rabbit: Finds Himself by David Wallace and Lorian Dean

Here is a summary of what the book is about. The story is about a rabbit named Ralphy. He knew he was different from his brothers and sisters. Ralphy couldn't hop very far but the thing that drove him nuts was his ears. Ralphy ears were larger and crooked than a normal rabbit. When kids came into the pet shop they would laugh at him as they pass by him. One day a little girl named Marta noticed Ralphy jumping  around in his cage. From that moment everything changed for Ralphy.

What an incredible story to read to children.

There are some wonderful adventures that teach great moral lessons.

It has a wonderful message about friendship and accepting yourself just the way you are. Also, don't worry about what other people think of you.

I feel this book is geared toward the age range of 6 to preteen.

I believe the message is also saying it's ok to be different.

Happy Reading Everyone!

Review: 3 Willows by Ann Brashares

Here is a summary of what the book is about. Summer is a time to grow

seeds
Polly has an idea that she can't stop thinking about, one that involves changing a few things about herself. She's setting her sights on a more glamorous life, but it's going to take all of her focus. At least that way she won't have to watch her friends moving so far ahead.

roots
Jo is spending the summer at her family's beach house, working as a busgirl and bonding with the older, cooler girls  she'll see at high school come September. She didn't count on a brief fling with a cute boy changing her entire summer. Or feeling  embarrassed by her middle school friends. And she didn't count on her family at all...

leaves
Ama is not an outdoorsy girl. She wanted to be at an academic camp, doing research in an air-conditioned library, earning A's. Instead her summer scholarship lands her on a wilderness trip full of flirting teenagers, blisters, impossible hiking trails, and a sad lack of hair products. It is a new summer. And a new sisterhood. Come grow with them.

I found this book very interesting. I thought it was apart of The Sisterhood  of the Traveling Pants series but it's not. It's a new sisterhood and new friendships.

What I got out of the storyline is that no matter what your friends are always there for you.

I only hope to have friendships as close as the characters did in this book.

I do plan on reading more books from  this author.

Review: Stealing Time (Servants of Fate Book 1) by Wendy Sparrow

Here is a summary of what the book is about. Father Time's son, Zeit Geist, must sacrifice a mortal's lifetime to the Fates each New Year's Eve. Last year- inexplicably, really-he made an 11:59 substitution. The  Fates are pissed and they're after his mortal Hannah. With the year ending, he ought to figure out why he'd saved her- and why he keeps doing it.

Following  an unlucky year, Hannah Lyons needs a week's holiday in a lodge to unwind. What she gets is near- death experiences and a sexy immortal who can't avoid kissing her, but might have to kill her. After all, even  Zeit can't hold back time indefinitely.

Even though this book is a romance it is a strange one.

We all know that there is no such thing as Father Time or mortals or immortals so I would say this book is more of a fantasy.

I think people who like fantasy books would enjoy this book.

I guess what I am saying is it wasn't my cup of tea. The plot was very interesting and the characters were developed well.

Those that have  a bent toward science fiction and  fantasy would find this a delightful read.

Just a Blog Update

I just wanted to let everyone know that tomorrow morning I will be flying to California to visit my dad. Since the plane ride is 5 hours long I hope to get some sleep. I will finish the book I am reading and will  be posting a review tomorrow sometime.  Oh my gosh I am going to be jet lag for a few days  because of the time difference.

Also the first week of July my husband will be joining me. We are going to have a little vacation and do some things. I am sure I will be posting a lot of pictures to Instagram.  Don't worry I will keep my blog updated while I am on vacation.

On the marriage front  I love being married. It is wonderful. My husband and I will be married for 6 months on June 28th. We got married on December 28, 2016. We are so happy. I love that we take care of each other.

I hope everyone is doing well. I want to say thank you all again for taking the time to look and read my blog.  I really appreciate it.  I know we all have busy lives.

Review: The Post -It Note Affair by Justine Avery

Here is a summary of what the book is about. Emily wants what every woman does: to have it all. Is that too much to ask? Emily really can't complain.  She's married to a wonderful man, her high school sweetheart, who still dotes on her as he did when her first laid eyes on her.

They have a beautiful home together, and they each enjoy successful careers. On the outside looking in, Emily has what any woman would be perfectly happy with.

But it's just not enough. Emily can't help wishing for just a bit more- for that special spark, for that thrill of something new and surprising, for the shivery tingles running down her spine. For real passion- for true romance.

She never expects to find it during the workday and definitely not in the form of a sticky note.

Just one square slip of paper with a few handwritten words, tucked mysteriously into the contents of her purse and dropped right into her small world, marks the first of a slew of sexy surprises Emily couldn't  have anticipated no matter how hard she wished for them.  She's desperately sought after every one of the special moments in store for her, and there's no question that she deserves them.

Even as Emily eagerly anticipates and thoroughly savors all of the excitement and mystery of what may come, she just can't guess the roller coaster of emotions she's soon to experience- or just how much it will change her.

And she may never guess just who- is leading her on the romantic adventure of her dreams. Just when she feels she's lost the life and love she most wants to have, she finds them- in the last place she'd ever think to look.

Wow I loved this book because it reminds you of the important things in life.

This is a very quick story there are only 7 chapters in it.

I found the storyline to be very cute and sweet. I also saw some surprises that I didn't see coming.

I would recommend this book. I believe you all would enjoy it as well.

Happy Reading Everyone!

Review: Sunday Kind of Love by Dorothy GarLock

Here is a summary of what the book is about.  Buckton, Indiana, 1956. As post-war America brims with new opportunities, a young woman  discovers the courage to follow her dreams-and her heart...

Gwendolyn Foster's life seems like a dream come true. A bright future in front of her, the successful, traditional man her parents wanted at her side. What more could a girl ask for? But Gwen has a different dream altogether-to be a writer- and she won't rest until it comes true.

Strong arms to support her, not own her... that's what she needs. And she finds them in the most unexpected of places.

Hank Ellis has long been haunted by his little brother's death. He knows the entire town blames him for the accident, but it's only fitting. He blames himself too. So he's shocked when Gwen ignores the vicious gossip and befriends him. And before long, everything changes for them.

Folks warn Gwen about Hank, but she knows in her heart that they're wrong. Drawn to this man of bravery and kindness who encourages her to pursue her passions, Gwen can finally envision the life she's always wanted. And with Gwen, Hank finds the strength to let go of his guilt, as he dares to hope for a future with her.

But braving the town that turns against them isn't the only challenge they face. For Hank still harbors a dark secret, a shocking truth that may force him to lose Gwen forever...

One day it was raining. My husband and I went to the bookstore to browse.

I came across this book. I asked my husband if I could have it he said yes. I am so glad I got it. I am not sure what drew me to this book maybe it was the cover or maybe it was the title or maybe both.

What a incredible story. I fell in love with this book. I couldn't put it down.

I would highly recommend this book. I hope you all will love it as much as I did.

There are some twists and turns in this book.

Happy Reading Everyone!
