Review: Muddy Bottom by Ashley Farley

Here is a summary of what the book is about.  Birdie Fuller’s new year is off to a bad start. Her husband has mysteriously disappeared, leaving Birdie to cope with their unmarried daughter’s unplanned pregnancy. Birdie and Hannah disagree about the baby. Birdie urges her daughter to consider abortion, but Hannah is determined to see the pregnancy to term. When Hannah returns for her last semester in college, Birdie must face her demons, the problems in her marriage that drove her husband to clean out their bank accounts and run off with another woman.

While struggling to hide her pregnancy from her roommates and ex-boyfriend, Hannah interviews for jobs that will take her and her baby far away from her mother. After graduation, with months to kill before the start of her new career, she returns to Palmetto Island for the summer to await the birth of her baby. Tension mounts between Hannah and Birdie when they move from their waterfront home to a two-bedroom apartment above a bakery. Can mother and daughter mend their relationship? Or will they be lost to each other forever?

I really enjoyed reading this book. I could not put it down it was a real page turner. I thought it was written very well. I am so glad there was a happy ending. Looking forward to reading more books by this author.

Review: Blogger Girl by Meredith Schorr

Here is a summary of what the book is about.  A chick lit enthusiast since the first time she read Bridget Jones’s Diary, book blogger Kim Long has worked tirelessly to squash the claim that “chick lit is dead” once and for all. Not bad for a woman who by day ekes out a meager living as a pretty, and pretty-much-nameless, legal secretary in Manhattan.
But while she finds no passion in the day job, she finds plenty in the handsome associate down the hall. At least until her high school nemesis, mean girl Hannah Marshak, bursts back into town. Not only does she flash onto the chick lit scene with a hot new book that’s turning heads—and pages—but Kim’s afraid she’s turning the head of her handsome colleague as well.

Adding salt to her wounded heart, Hannah’s book has popped into Kim’s inbox—along with a request for review. With a mere click of her mouse, Kim can deliver a nasty one-star review to thousands of followers. She would rather toss her favorite designer shoes in a trash heap than help promote Hannah’s career.
But does she become a mean girl herself or put on her big-girl panties and be professional in spite of the past?

With everyone around her moving on and up, Kim begins to question whether being a “blogger girl” makes the grade in her offline life. But is Hannah really the problem, or will her success be the push Kim needs to unearth a dream she’s kept hidden for years?

I enjoyed reading this book. I liked the characters. I think it’s a book we book review bloggers can relate to. I would recommend this book. It’s a good cute story.

Review:Choices of The Heart The Wedding Chapel series Crystal Springs Romances Book 8 by Mary Jane Morgan

Here is a summary of what the book is about. After losing her husband, Jillian Blake leaves Nashville and moves with her two-year-old son to Crystal Springs, Tennessee to be near family and part of a close-knit, small-town community.

When Cade Hendrix’s wife gives him shocking news and files for divorce, he swears off relationships and devotes himself to his two top priorities—his young daughter and his veterinary practice.

A chance meeting for Cade and Jillian throws Cade’s carefully crafted world into a tailspin, and has Jillian wondering if she can ever find the courage to love again.

Will heartbreak and deceit keep Jillian and Cade locked in the past? Or will they find the courage to follow their hearts?

All of the books in this series are stand alone books.  There are 12 books in the series. You can start reading from anywhere and not be  lost.  I absolutely loved reading this book. I couldn’t put it down. It just grabs you from the very first page.  It’s a sweet clean romance story.  I would recommend this book. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Review: Opposites Attract by Camilla Isley

Here is a summary of what the book is about. Single mom Vivian has been burned by love once before, and her job as a divorce lawyer has presented enough evidence to convince her there are no good men left in New York City.

The worst offender is her new neighbor: Dr. Lucas Keller, a couple’s therapist whose piercing blue eyes and flawless dark hair are just as annoying as his bad temper.

And when Lucas starts poaching Vivian’s clients by saving their marriages, she makes it her mission to force him out of the building to save her practice. But it’s Lucas who gives her the perfect opportunity when he proposes an unexpected bet.

With their offices at stake, Vivian and Lucas play the field of love in a fierce battle of wits that quickly turns hot and personal, especially when Vivian’s daughter gets involved. Now, taking down Lucas has become more than business for Vivian. It’s become a pleasure—and soon, Vivian and Lucas will realize how pointless it is to fight the laws of attraction.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I thought it was a cute and funny story.  It was well written.  I would recommend this book.

Review: The International Kissing Club by Ivy Adams

Here is a summary of what the book is about. Piper, Cassidy, Mei, and Izzy have been best friends their whole lives. And they've always agreed on one goal: to get out of tiny Paris, Texas, and see the world. The school's foreign exchange program seems like the perfect escape: Piper will go to the original Paris; Mei will go to China; Cassidy will go to Australia; and Izzy, unable to afford the program, will stay at home. To add spice to their semester away, and to stay connected to their best friends, the girls start The International Kissing Club, a Facebook page where they can anonymously update one another and brag about all the amazing guys they're meeting. After all, these girls are traveling abroad: amazing guys abound at every turn! But sometimes fun, flirty vacation flings turn into more serious romances, and sometimes you don't return from abroad the same person you were. Will the girls' relationships-and their friendships-be able to survive?

I liked reading this book. It is a cute story.  This book is perfect teenagers to read. There are some twists and turns in the story.  I would recommend this book.

Review: Love Connection: A Second Chance Romantic Comedy(First Comes Love Book 1) by Camilla Isley

Here is a summary of what the book is about. Have you ever wondered what might have been? Gemma Dawson is at the airport, staring at two plane tickets to two different cities. Two different weddings. Two possible futures. She's at a crossroads. Be maid honor at her best friend's wedding to crash her ex's?

Gemma's decision, unknown to her, hinges on a delayed flight and chance meeting. Now her life is about to go down two parallel tracks-will Gemma fly toward a life with her first love or a future with a man she's not even met yet?

In concurrent storylines, Gemma lives out the consequences of each journey. Different stories unravel with unpredictable outcomes for Gemma and her loved ones.

I just love reading romantic stories. I found this book to be interesting because it was two different stories. I got confused times. I did enjoy reading this book. Loved the characters  in this book. Looking forward to reading more books by this author.

Review: Bunco: A Comedy about the Drama of Friendship by Robin Delnoce

Here a summary of what the book is about. We all have those friends. Maybe you’ve known them since childhood, or met in college, or while waiting for a child’s practice to end. Maybe you found yourself living on the same street. There’s no single path to friendship. Relationships don’t follow a script and neither do the lives of  smart, funny, complicated suburban women.

Jill, Anne, Mary, and Rachel met years ago through a neighborhood group that regularly got together to play a dice game called Bunco. Although player’s  have come and gone, they continue to use Bunco as an excuse to abandon their day-to-day responsibilities and enjoy food, drinks, and the company of their best friends. When new neighbors move in under the cover of night the foursome sees an opportunity to expand their Bunco circle. But within hours, suspicions  run rampant as the odd behaviors of the newest residents are interpreted differently. Are they quirky, or kinky? Diabolical, or misunderstood? Time after time as the light sheds some secrets, more emerge. Each woman finds herself shocked by the friends she thought she knew.

Through the friendly banter, intimate confessions, and tongue-twisting insults, you may see yourself or your friends in these characters. Wipe away tears of laughter and loss as you join the four metaphorical rounds of Bunco, and feel part of the conversation.

Whether engaging in playful exploits, providing unconditional support, making uncomfortable sacrifices, or whining up in handcuffs again these ladies are those rarest friends who become true family. Of course families don’t follow a script either, unless it is a plot twisting, slightly off color comedy about the drama of friendship. and Bunco sort of.

I didn’t know what to expect from this book. Turns out it grabs you from the very first page. It’s a real page turner. There are a lot of twists and turns in the story. I enjoyed reading this book. The only thing I didn’t like about it is that it is written in script format.

Happy Reading Everyone!
