Review: Hello My Love ( A Modern Love Story) ( Between Two Worlds Book 1) by Evy Journey

Here is a summary of what the book is about. It is about what would happen if Jane Austen's Elisabeth Bennet were alive today? What are some of the challenges she would have to face in today's world?

It is a modern day story of a true classic of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice book. It reminds me of a TV series I saw  on DVD called Austentatious. It was about the women in the Jane Austen novels, how they lived in today's world and the consequences. For example they used the modern technology we use today and the stories are told in the language dialogue of the modern women.

All chapters in this book are labeled in Roman numerals. That is about as old fashioned as this book gets. For those that have a hard time getting through Jane Austin's classic novels this book is a great alternative. This book tells the story in modern terms and locations that are familiar to the world today. It makes the book very pleasurable to read but does not lose the classic content of the Jane Austin story.

I would highly recommend this book. The characters are interesting and come alive on each page. Bravo, well done!

Review: Your Flight to Happiness: A 7 - Step Journey to Emotional Freedom by Toni Mackenzie

Here is a summary of what the book is about. Your Flight to Happiness is a self- help book with a flying theme, taking the reader on a journey which will enable them to release negative thinking and limiting beliefs, and create emotional freedom and happiness from within.

Chapter one tells of how the author found herself at an all time low point in her life, her " plane crash". She then guides the reader through the seven steps she used to rebuild he life and lean how to fly again.

So many people believe they will be happy at some time in the future - when they get a new job, meet a new partner, go on holiday, buy a new outfit,  lose weight... The truth is, happiness does not come from outside experiences or other people, happiness ultimately is an inside job!

Throughout this colour- illustrated book she also shares some of her relevant early childhood experiences,  illustrating  how our subconscious minds become programmed during the first few years of our lives with downloaded information.

This information leads to our beliefs about ourselves, other people, and the world we live in, and we continue to act upon them, often holding ourselves back, believing that we're not good enough, feeling anxious abou the future, fearing that we'll fail...

The exercises and information within the chapters provide the reader with various tools and techniques to change the way they feel by changing the way they think, and ultimately reach their destination of happiness.

Wow this is a truly amazing book. I sure did learn a lot.

I love all of the quotes from different people. I enjoyed how the author shares her life experiences with the reader.

I would recommend this book to everyone. After reading this book you will want to go out and find your happiness.

Looking forward to reading more books by this author.

Happy Flying everyone remember to buckle up!

Review: The Crush Dilemma (Dear Aubrey Book 1) by Susan Hatler

Here is a summary of what the book is about. Teen geek, Poppy Pinkleton,  is adding some spice to her junior year of high school: A year of psychological experiments that will 1) Earn her three units of college credit; 2) Give her an outlet to say what she wants, when she wants; and 3) Will NOT include her parents telling her to be the "bigger person."

How you ask? Poppy's gotten the green light from Ms. Peterson, the newspaper head, to write an online advice column for the school.

She's found the perfect name for her alter ego: Aubrey. It means someone who rules with "magical wisdom."

She'll be in control of her online experiment, online identity, and divvy her wisdom to the masses while tracking the results for her mini- thesis.

Now protected by a secret identity, she's got the popular crowd clambering to know what she thinks about fashion, homework, and eek... even sex! And the best part is, her parents and best friends don't know anything about it.

Finally, she can let loose a wild side and speak her mind- right or wrong, without having to meet anyone's expectations.

Soon however, dishing out advice leads to more than Poppy can handle on her own and she must make a choice. Hide behind her alter ego or take the chance that everyone, including the new boy at school, will like her for everything she is.
Which do you think she will choose?

Wow Susan Hatler did it again. I absolutely loved this book.

I found that the story dealt with real issues that teenagers go through in life and in school. It made me want to start my own advice column. The dilemmas that Poppy got herself into and out of and the characters who asked her for advice is what  makes this wonderful reading.

Happy reading everybody!

Review: From the Notebooks of a Middle School Princess by Meg Cabot

Here is a summary of what the book is about. Return to the world of Meg Cabot's bestselling and beloved Princess Diaries series in From the Notebooks of a Middle School Princess-this time through the illustrated diary of a spunky new heroine: Princess Mia's long lost half- sister, Olivia!

Olivia Grace Clarisse Mignonette Harrison is a completely average twelve- year old: average height, average weight, average  brown hair of average length, average brown skin and average hazel eyes.

The only things about her that aren't average are her name (too long and princess themed), her ability to draw animals (useful for her future career as a wildlife illustrator), and the fact that she is a half - orphan who has never met her father and is forced to live with her aunt and uncle (who treat her almost like their own kids, so she doesn't want to complain).

Then one completely average day, everything goes wrong: the most popular girl in school, Annabelle Jenkins, threatens to beat her up, the principal gives her a demerit, and she's knocked down at the bus stop... Until a limo containing Princess Mia Thermopolis of Genovia pulls up to invite her to New York to finally meet her father, who promptly invites her to come live with him, Mia Grandmere and her two fabulous poodles... Maybe Olivia Grace Clarisse Mignonette Harrison  isn't so average after all!

I thought this book was very cute. I could see middle school kids reading this book. I thought it was written very well. I enjoyed the illustrations in the book.

I loved the fact that it was written in the diary format. I think it is good for a 12 year old girl to write her feelings down in a notebook.

The book is written from a 12 year old girls perspective and point of view. There is a sequel to this book called From the Notebooks of a Middle School Princess Royal Wedding Disaster by Meg Cabot. Which I will  read and review at  another time.

Review: Switch -a- Wish by M.B. Earnheardt

Here is a summary of what the book is about. Switch -a- Wish examines the complexity of a stressed relationship through the eyes of partners who are required to live as each other. This unique perspective allows Chris and Amanda a chance to find their way back to the feelings of the love they once shared.

I found this book to be interesting. The author did a great job with the way she wrote it.

I also found this book to be funny. I thought it was a great comparison to the movie Freaky Friday. Where in the movie Freaky Friday the mother and daughter switch lives.

I also thought this book did a great job of pointing out the responsibilities of the roles a husband and wife have in a marriage. It dealt with real life situations. We know that switching bodies can't happen in reality but I found this book to be an eye opener. I would recommend  this book. Looking forward to reading more books by this author.

Review: The Boy with Words by C.E. Wilson

Here is the summary of what the book is about. Two Books in One Volume! (Five Seven Five & Five Seven Six).

White Frost has only ever known the darkness. Everything outside of her closed society is  The Unknown - a strange and dangerous place accessible to only a chosen few.

White's only glimpse of the world beyond comes from her beloved cousin in the form of mysterious collections of words that hint at astonishing wonders. When an accident upends her simple  existence, she's given  an unlikely chance to see the truth for herself.

What she finds is greater and more terrible than she could have imagined, and before long she is forced to make the most important choice of her life: does she accept her safe, limited world that she's known or take a desperate gamble in a world not meant for her with the Boy with Words?

What can I say about this book? I found this book to be intriguing and a little bit strange. I can't imagine going through life in darkness and being lied to all my life the way White Frost did.

This book has some twists and turns and some surprises in it. I thought the author did a great job writing this book. What an imagination she has? I would recommend this book.

Review: Just a Matter of Time: A Young Adult Paranormal Short Story by Charity Tahmaseb

Here is a summary of what the book is about. Sadie Lin: High school junior Sadie is desperate- to maintain her GPA,  to score high on the SAT's, for her dad to return from Afghanistan.

Time seems to crawl and slip through her fingers all at once. She thinks it's all in her head.

It's not.

Gordon Bakersfield: Gordon- Sadie's ninth grade epic crush- has plenty of time and knows where to get more.

He knows someone has been stealing Sadie's time. And while he's not sure how to stop it, he's hoping to try. But can Sadie trust him?

Only time will tell.

This young adult paranormal novelette is approximately 8,000 words long (-35 pages).

This is the first paranormal book I have read. I found the story to be interesting and cute. Can someone really steal time form you? To find out the answer you need to pick up this book and read it. I thought it was a real page turner I couldn't put it down. I am looking forward to reading more books from this author. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes young adult/paranormal short story books.

Review: A life Redeemed by J. R. Pitts

Here is a summary of what the book is about: The story is about a boy named Lamont. He comes from a poor family.

He was born with a disability known as "a crooked foot." When he walks his foot drags behind him. In school Lamont is bullied and abused by his classmates.

Suddenly his father dies of a heart attack. Lamont and his sister and mother have a hard time dealing with his death.

As time goes on Lamont's mother shows interest in another man she met at church. Eventually, Lamont's mother and the man get married.

Lamont hopes that he can build a close relationship with his stepdad just like he had with dad.

Through his ordeals in life Lamont comes to rely on his faith.

Wow, this was a really great book. It really spoke to me. I can relate to Lamont because I have a disability too. Ever since I was a little kid I have had a vision problem.

Junior high and high school was the worse for me. My classmates would make fun of me because I have to have large print text books.

When I was 25-26 years old I found out I had cataracts in both eyes. I went through the surgery. I could see well for about a year.

Then when I was 27 years old my retina detached in my right eye. I went through surgery again. I loss 70% of my center vision.

The point of my personal story is that I kept on praying to God and he made sure I was alright.

The moral of the book is no matter how hard you have it always keep your faith in God. I would recommend this book.

Review: An Unexpected Wedding (Treasured Dreams Book 5) by Susan Hatler

Here is the summary of what the book is about. Instead of being an excited bride-to-be, Holly's frazzled beyond belief as she tries to plan her wedding. Her fiance Dave, says whatever she wants works for him, but she can't get her mom and soon-to-be mother-in-law to so much as agree on a date.

The worst part is that her dad passed away four years ago, and  she's heartbroken he won't be walking her down the aisle.

Holly begins to accept the wedding is doomed, but then an unexpected surprise reminds her why she's getting married in the first place.

I enjoyed the story very much. I like how this story talks a little bit about what happened in the previous books in the series. The title of this book is perfect because of the unexpected twist and surprise of the story.

Review: Wild Animal School by Jenny Lynne

Here is a blurb of what the book is about. At this school every lesson is an adventure.

Sixteen-year-old Jessica Rainville's dream of working with exotic animals is about to come true. She's signed up to spend a summer learning to train and care for tigers, lions, leopards, bears, and elephants at an exotic animal ranch.

She will pet tigers, train grizzly bears, ride bareback on elephants, and despite her efforts, she will fall in love.

But Jessica's summer at the exotic animal ranch will test her in ways that she never imagined. And just one mistake can mean the difference between life and  death.

Wild Animal School is a romantic young adult contemporary coming-of-age novel that is a must-read for animal lovers, especially those who have ever considered a career working with animals, from zookeeper to animal trainer.

I found this book to be a very interesting story. It was a page turner I couldn't put it down. I feel the author is a talented writer. The way the author writes makes you feel like you are apart of the story. While reading this story I pretended to be an animal trainer too. I would recommend everyone should read this book.

Review: Room 42 by Melody J. Bremen

Here is a blurb of what the book is about. Only four months left, then Dave Martinez is a free man.

Dave is an eight- grader at Lakeville Boarding School, the school for boys with unexplored potential( aka losers). If he can control his impulse to steal, he can return home  and attend regular public school. If he doesn't, he will be sent to Birmingham High, the worst high school on the planet,  and his life will be doomed forever. For just a few more months , he needs to stay out of trouble  and keep a low profile. And he's pretty good at that.

Then Dave gets a new roommate, Tom Grant. Tom is allergic to boring and doesn't know how to listen to rules. His wild plans involve all of his roommates, especially Dave. They're dragged along with Tom as he hunts animals ( and teachers in pajamas),goes sledding on cafeteria trays, and drives bulldozers through the night. Dave's chance's of keeping a low profile are going down the drain.

I enjoyed this book. I think 7 th and 8 th graders  and high school kids would like to read this book because it is geared towards them.

I loved the  ending  of this book. I thought the message of this book is choose your friends carefully.

Sure Tom got Dave into trouble a lot but it turns out Tom was a good friend to have.

Review: Lost in Tokyo by Jenny Lynne

Here is a blurb of what the book  is about. Sometimes you have to abandon your comfort zone to find the place where you belong.

Nineteen - year -  old Erin is hoping that her visit to Japan with her best friend, Adam, will be life - changing. Fifteen years ago, Erin's mother mysteriously vanished. The only clue she left behind is a handwritten itinerary for a dream trip to Japan, a rip that Erin doesn't know if her mother ever had the chance to take. Erin has decided to carry out this itinerary, believing that it might help her find her mother.

But her trip won't  be going  according to plan.

Just hours after Erin and Adam arrive in Tokyo, in a jet - lagged fog, they end up in bed together. While struggling with the tension that now dominates their once innocent friendship, Erin and Adam visit the places on her mother's list. As they explore the wonders of Japan, Erin finds herself haunted by strange "memories" that seem to belong to her mother. Could these memories be real? If so, perhaps her mother can be found.

Lost in Tokyo is a young adult / new adult contemporary romance novel that will appeal to readers. The  book gives us a travel guide of wonderful things to see and do while on vacation in  Japan ( featuring attractions in Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Nikko, and Kamakura) wrapped in a story of healing, and hope, with an unexpected, but satisfying,  ending.

I thought this was a really great book. It is full of twists and turns and surprises. I also found the story to be a bit complicated at times. Did Erin get her miracle...to find out the answer you have to pick up this book and read it. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves contemporary romance and young adult / new adult books.

Review: Lost in Los Angeles by Jenny Lynne

Even though this book is fiction the author's use of the characters could be based on real people's lives. The same goes for the location of the story: Los Angeles is a real place after all.  You really can get lost in Los Angeles... it's a big city!

Here is a blurb of what the book is about. Sometimes you find hope where you least expect it. Just weeks after 18 year old Erin tragically loses her best friend, she is brutally betrayed by her high school crush. Plagued by crippling panic attacks and disconcerting visions of her dead friend, Erin travels to Los Angeles, searching for a sign that life is still worth living. Shortly after she arrives, she meets Ben, a mysterious man who captures both her curiosity and her heart. As they explore Los Angeles together, Ben reveals shocking secrets of his tragic childhood and helps Erin believe that she can heal from the wounds of her traumatic past. But Ben is hiding one horrible secret. A secret that could destroy her. Lost in Los Angeles is a young adult/ new adult contemporary romance novel. Lost in Los Angeles gives a insider's Los Angeles travel guide wrapped in a story of healing and hope, with an ending you won't see coming.

We meet Erin... she lives in New York. She travels to Los Angeles to see if life is worth living. You might ask why she does this? Here are some clues.

Erin was seeing a guy named Barry and they were at his place. He wanted to try and sleep with her. Erin wouldn't let him. Barry got mad. Ever since then Erin has a hard time trusting people or letting people into her life.

There is something wrong with Erin. She has anxiety issues because when she goes and visits places she sees and hears strange things. When it is night time she sees eyes of monsters looking at her and she screams "Get Away From Me" really loud. She also cries a lot. She is having a hard time coping with the death of her friend.

When Erin goes into this coffee shop she sees a guy sitting at a table typing on his laptop. He offers her to sit at his table because the coffee shop is crowed, she gladly accepts. The guy's name is Ben.

It is so sweet that Ben wants to help Erin. She has been though a lot. It is nice to know that she feels safe with Ben... but she doesn't trust him yet. How can you feel safe with someone  if you don't trust them?

Ben has been through a lot too. He was abused by his father when he was a kid. Ben was in the hospital because he stabs himself with a sword over and over again he found in his dad's office. When the doctors operate on him they find out he has cancer. Some how the cancer went away later on in his life.

I found this book to be well written. I am glad that Erin has found hope in Ben. The problems Erin face can happen in other people's lives. The book covers the issue of anxiety very well.

Review: 40 Something: Safety by Shannon Peel

This is the second installment of the 40 Something series.

Here is what the book is about. Rose is a mother who believes family is the most important thing in the world. She finds herself in a vulnerable situation and she worries about her family's safety. How does one keep their children safe in a dangerous world?

Charlie is a busy divorce attorney. It is her turn to have her son. She shares custody of her son with her ex. After a long night and an early morning she is exhausted and the added demands of work and child are having their toll. When pulled two directions which should a woman choose, kid or work?

Justine has the perfect husband and the perfect life, however it's lacking something. Sometimes danger can add spice to one's life, or not. How does a woman find passion when the most exciting thing that's happened in a long time is a confrontation with a bully?

Sophie has been whisked away by her friend's sister to Lindsay's place to hide from her abusive ex husband. Sophie has never been safe and is not at all comfortable with Lindsay's hospitality. How can one trust a stranger's kindness when the one you love has always hurt you?

Lindsay wants Sophie and her kids to stay with her to fill a hole deep inside her. Is she moving to fast?

To find out the answers to these questions you need to pick p this book and read it. I would recommend you read the first book 40 Something: Sunday Dinner first so you won't get lost in this one.

I really liked this book. It is a short read. The kindle version is 60 pages. I hope the author writes more installments of this series.

Review: Above the Sky by Jenny Lynne

Here is a blurb of what the book is about. It is a story about a girl named Seven and her best friend Ten. They  live where all is peaceful. Except there is a war going on above the sky. There are robots and drones who takes care of everyone's needs. There are strict rules to follow and a few choices to make.

Every year on Assignment Day the path of every 18 year olds life is laid out. Some are given jobs  and others are sent off to fight the war and never return.

The first 18 years of Seven life were filled with lies. When Assignment day comes for Seven the assignments shatter everything she ever believed in. The rules force everyone to accept their fates but Seven decides to go against the Decision Makers wishes and does something that has never been done before.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a real page turner. I normally don't read books in this genre. This is my first time reading a book like this and I found it to be gripping.

Review: If...: Lost or Found by Jackie Mae

Here is a blurb of what the book is about. It is a story about a girl named Sabrina who travels abroad for 4 long years. She had promised her parents she would only be gone for one year.

This book raises a lot of If questions. The word If could mean different things to different people. For example If- I were a better person. If- I were rich, thinner, or prettier. If- I were male or female, shorter, or taller. If- I had been born to a different set of parents. If- I had more friends. If- I had a better job. That one little word can take you places or make you crazy.

The kindle version of this book has 72 pages. It also has 12 chapters. The chapters are done in the number chapter format. The chapters are short.

I really enjoyed his book. It has taught me you can't be afraid of life...you should embrace it. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author.

Review What The Heart Remembers

This book does not have number chapters. The chapters are done in title format. There are 55 titles.

On the kindle version of this book there are no page numbers either.

One thing I find frustrating is reading a book that is in a series and you find out it is the 3rd book of the series. Then you don't know what is going on because there  are book 1 and 2 before the 3rd one. So if you are new to this series  you might want to read book 1 and 2 first.

Max has to make a decision will it be one that changes her life or will it end in disaster.

Here is a blurb about the book. It is about two lovers who has one chance at happiness. Max went to Paris for college when she falls for a guy named Julien. Three years has gone by and the memory of  Julien still haunts Max. Will  she return to Paris in search for Julien. In order to find out the answer you need to pick up this book and read it.

I find this book a bit confusing because you don't know who is telling the story. As I said before I would recommend reading books 1 and 2 first before reading this one.  The first two books are tied into this story.

I did enjoy this book it is a real page turner. Looking forward to reading books 1 and 2  to get to know the characters better.

Review 40 Something: Sunday Dinner by Shannon Peel

The kindle version of this book has 55 pages. The chapters are titled  with the characters names.

Here is a blurb  of what the book  is about. It is a story about being a 40 year old woman in the 21st century. The story follows 5 women as they go through their lives as mothers, daughters, wives, sisters, and friends.

I came across this author through goodreads with a comment she wrote about her book in one of the groups we belong to.

This book raises a lot of questions and really makes you think.  Here are some examples of the questions.

Is being 40 something in the 21st century  all that different than when our mothers, grandmothers, and great grandmothers were in their 40s?

The feminist struggle for equality had to make things better for us women, right?

We are busy with kids, careers, houses, friends, and relationships, is this all there is to life?

Is life over when your marriage breaks down?

How do single moms do it?

Is dating in the 21st century all that different  than in the past?

How does one keep the passion alive in a marriage that lasts?

I absolutely loved this book. I would highly recommend every woman should read this book.  It is powerful and every woman can relate to the story.

Review A Rose for Sergei

I absolutely loved this story. It is a true story. From the very first chapter the story just grabs you and keeps your interest. In Russia sending a red rose to someone means their heart is bleeding for you.

This book was written about the time this author spend with Sergei after Sergei defected his position from the KGB. I hope this author writes more books so I can read more by her. If you want to know more about Sergei's life then you need to pick up this book and  read it.

When reading  this story you better have some tissues with you. This is the type of story that you will think about after you finish it. It is such an emotional story. You will become attached to the characters. This story will stay with you for  a while.

The author did an amazing job writing the book. It is of her memories of the time she and Sergei spend together.

If I had a rating system on my blog I would give this book 5 stars all the way.

Here is what the book is about.

Improbable – Unbelievable – All True

My search for independence, and a career with the Federal Government in Washington DC, took me on a journey that far surpassed any expectations. I was twenty-one when I met Sergei Kourdakov, a former KGB agent and Soviet naval intelligence officer who had defected from the Soviet Union.

The moment we met, Sergei reached for my hand and would not let go. The immediate, heated attraction surprised us both, and changed my life forever. How quickly I learned that, in matters of the heart, love makes its own choices…even when you suspect you're being followed. My memoir is the heartbreaking and intriguing true story of our time together.

A Review of (The Status of All Things)

The gist of the story is about a girl who time travels and changes her life through Facebook  statuses.

I really enjoyed this book. .It is the kind of book  you  can't put down. Everyone who has Facebook would identify with the book. It makes you wish that you could change your life through Facebook statuses.

The stuff that happened in the  book can happen  in real life.

For example... a wedding can be called off or your fiance can really fall for another person. If that really happened... would you try to get the man you are suppose to marry back? Here is my answer I wouldn't.

If you want to find out more I would pick up this book and read it.

Blogging For Creatives Review

I picked up this book at my favorite place... the bookstore. I have been blogging for a while now but  I wanted to learn more about blogging. I found this book to be very informative.

It has great information about how to create a blog, to creating good content and how to plan out your content plan.

It also had information about how to make a video blog. It also talked about how to promote your blog. It also talked about how to  use social media to get your blog noticed.

I would recommend this book because it is a great book for all types of bloggers out there. This book only comes in paperback form.
